Can you use it from abroad?
Partly. Non-residents first need a digital identity issued through a Saudi embassy or consulate. Residents use their iqama.

Why does the Saudi Properties platform matter if you are a foreigner?

It is the official route for non-Saudis who want to own property in Saudi Arabia. The Real Estate General Authority (REGA), the government body that regulates real estate, runs it.

Since 22 January 2026, a law has let non-Saudis apply to own property in Saudi Arabia. REGA names this platform as the law’s official channel. The law’s detailed rules and the designated zones, the areas where non-Saudis may own property, have since been approved. Our what’s changed page lists the dates.

What you can buy, and where, depends on the rules for your situation and on the zone map. The platform and REGA’s pages set out the current rules.

Where will you meet the Saudi Properties platform?

You meet it as soon as you plan to buy property in Saudi Arabia. The platform covers the main steps:

  • checking whether a buyer meets the requirements to own property;
  • checking whether a property meets the requirements, a service for sellers;
  • showing the designated zones on a map;
  • transferring ownership, which the seller requests. The sale is then recorded in the Real Estate Registry, the national register of property rights.

Some services carry a government fee, which the platform shows. These pages explain the steps around it:

Can you use the Saudi Properties platform from outside Saudi Arabia?

Partly. If you live abroad, you first need a few things in your own name. On 19 October 2026, the platform listed these steps:

  1. Get a digital identity. Book an appointment on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs website, then visit a Saudi embassy or consulate with your documents.
  2. Get a Saudi mobile number. Get an eSIM, a digital SIM card, from a Saudi telecom provider. Activate it in Nafath, the Saudi government’s login app.
  3. Activate your digital identity on Absher. Absher is the Ministry of Interior’s online platform.
  4. Open a Saudi bank account. Open a personal account in your own name through a Saudi bank’s website.

People who live in Saudi Arabia use their iqama, a foreigner’s residence permit, instead. Steps can change, so check the platform before you start.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Saudi Properties platform the same as the Real Estate Registry?

No. REGA, the Real Estate General Authority, describes Saudi Properties as the official platform for the law on property ownership by non-Saudis. The platform shows the designated zones on interactive maps, with the types of rights and the limits that apply, and runs the ownership process. REGA’s own website lists the Real Estate Registry as a separate service. If you are unsure which one a step belongs to, ask a lawyer before you act.

Can I use the Saudi Properties platform in English?

Yes. REGA lists English and Arabic as the service languages for non-Saudi property ownership. Some documents you are asked to approve may still reach you in Arabic only. If so, don’t approve anything you have not understood. Ask a licensed lawyer to explain the document to you in English first, so you know what you are agreeing to before you go ahead on the platform.

Can a lawyer use the Saudi Properties platform for me?

For some steps, yes. A power of attorney lets a Saudi lawyer act for you in Saudi Arabia, and its wording sets out exactly what the lawyer may do. Some steps may need you, or someone you appoint, in person, and we tell you which when we agree the work. Keep your own logins and any codes sent to your phone to yourself. Before you pay, a lawyer can also check the deal.
